FixTheFixing at the “FootballLeaks”: Tackling Corruption in European Sport

7/11/2017. Fix the Fixing team members, Dr Barkoukis, Pr Tsorbatzoudis and Mr Verschuuren, participated at an event organized by MEP Stelios Kouloglou (GUE/NGL) in Brussels that brought together politicians, administrators, journalist, researchers and practitioners, in an effort to devise strategies to deal with the phenomenon of corruption in European sport.

Guests among others were Sports Deputy Secretary George Vasiliadis and former international football player Kostas Katsouranis. Present at the event were the MEP Thodoris Zagorakis, the Deputy Speaker of the European Parliament Dimitris Papadimoulis, the Consultant in the General Secretariat Against Corruption Stelios Fazakis, the Professors of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Vasilis Barkoukis and Charalambos Tsorbatzoudis, Loughbourough University Professor Elizabeth Manolis, the official of the Commission’s Sport Committee George Paterson, the President of the EU Athletes’ Committee Paulina Tomczyk, German journalist Hazo Seppelt and researcher from The French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs Pim Vershuuren.
